Original Capo C3b

$29.95

A few years ago we upgraded the original nickel plated Shubb capo, giving it the roller design, and a more streamlined look and feel. But whenever you change something, some people will prefer the original. So for those who still want the “classic” — the original Shubb capo as it has been for over 40 years — we are continuing to make the ORIGINAL Shubb capo available in plain brass.

Plain, unplated brass will darken in time. For those of us who appreciate brass, we prefer this look; reminiscent of an old microscope, or a piece of gear from a sailing ship. But if you like your brass to shine, it can be polished with a cloth and most any commercial metal polish.

Since 1980 the Shubb capo has set the standard against which all others must be measured. It is the first choice … often the only choice… of more than a million musicians worldwide. The serious guitarist will settle for no less.

For 12-String Guitar

Our model 3 capos — “for 12-String Guitar” — are 2.25″ wide and curved. Not strictly for 12-strings, they fit any steel string guitars with wide fretboards. The model 3 capo is available in these various styles:

•  If your steel string guitar’s neck is thicker (deeper) than most, it might require our model S3v, specially designed for the thick necks on some vintage guitars.

FRETBOARD RADIUS

Almost all steel string guitars have a radiused fretboard. There may be an occasional steel string with a flat fretboard, but they are rare; perhaps on custom built instruments.  For these rare instruments, our model 2 (“for Nylon String guitar”) is the right choice.

While the radii on steel string guitar fretboards are not all identical, they are well within the Shubb Capo’s range for a good fit. This is because its proprietary sleeve material is engineered to be ultra resilient; it conforms to the fretboard’s shape, while cushioning and pushing back on the strings … just like your finger does!
